What to does chiropractic treatment entail?
Chiropractic therapy is a form of therapy that is used to diagnose and treat health problems that affects the nerves, muscles, bones, and joints of the body. A chiropractor is the person who provides chiropractic therapy. When you visit a chiropractor for the first time to receive therapy some of the questions they will ask you about are; the past injuries or illnesses, your current health problems and the medicines that you are taking, your lifestyle, the diet, sleep habits etc. It is very important to inform your chiropractor about any physical problems you may be experiencing. If you have a feeling of weakness or any other nerve related problems feel free to say it. This kind of treatment offers a sure remedy to back pain that has lasted for three months or less. You could also find relief with this kind of therapy if you are experiencing neck pain. You should however avoid this kind of therapy if you have bone fractures or tumors.
After you have been cross examined by the health expert they will then proceed to conduct a physical examination on you. Things like checking how your spine is moving called spinal mobility test will be carried out on you. The expert will also carry out some specialized test on you; checking your blood pressure and x-rays. These tests are often conducted on you in order to find out what could be causing your backache. Sometimes after these tests have been conducted on you, treatment can be administered to you immediately or on your second visit.
During treatment the health expert may ask you to lie down on a special type of table where he/she will do to you what is called the spinal manipulations. This is often done by hand where a joint is moved in your spine to the end of its range accompanied by a soft shove. This will help in the realignment of the bones of your spine in order for them to be straighter. The other treatments that the expert may conduct on you are massage on your soft tissues. Some people often experience little pain and fatigue for some few days after receiving this kind of treatment. This is always due to their body’s reaction in adjusting to the new alignment. It is however not good that you feel pain from the manipulation.
For people with back or spinal problems opting for chiropractic care should go for more than one session for them to be able to alleviate their problem. In some instances this therapy lasts several weeks. During your first stages of therapy your chiropractor may suggest for you more than two weekly short sessions at first lasting between 10 and 20 minutes each. If you are responding well to treatment then you may only be required only once weekly. If you see that you are feeling much better then you can talk with your physician about how you are feeling based on the goals you set out in your first session.
