Every person wants a lean abdominal area. No one wants to be stuck with “love handles” or belly fat that “greets” you each morning when you are trying out an outfit. Luckily, there are many ways to effectively burn belly fat and to keep it off.
1. Increase Your Metabolism
The first and most important thing to do if you want to burn belly fat is to increase your metabolism because an increased metabolism means that more calories are used for fuel.
Most of the times, belly fat accumulated due to an imbalance in your diet. If you not eat a balanced diet that includes all the food groups in moderation, your body will lack energy and you will have cravings. Many times, especially in women, when a person eats something sugary due to cravings, that sugar is converted into fat that are stored around the waist.
A balanced diet will result in a sustainable blood sugar level, reduction in craving and in increase in the body’s metabolism.
2. Exercise
If you want to burn belly fat it’s time to get off the couch and to be active. Aerobic exercises like swimming and dancing, will help increase your metabolism and thus the consumption of extra calories. Exercises also contribute to the reduction of blood sugar levels and metabolic problems.
3. Read Labels
Truth be told, there are few people who actually read the package label when purchasing a product. However, when you are more vigilant about the contents of you food, you can cut on many calories. Look out for ingredients like “high-fructose corn syrup”. Many foods have been sweetened - which means additional sugar added to your diet - that is not used as energy and only converts to fat.
4. Avoid Sugar-Sweetened Beverages
Added sugar is extremely unhealthy and harmful on the body’s metabolic health. Sugar consists of half parts fructose and glucose. When you eat high quantities of refined sugar, the liver cannot metabolise the fructose and this is converted to fat and stored around the abdominal area. When too much sugar is found in the blood on a constant basis, is may cause metabolic problems. In the event of the accumulation of increased liver and belly fat, a person can develop insulin resistance.
When you drink many sweetened beverages, you end up with more calories than you realise. When you think of it, on a hot summer’s day, you do not really keep track of the amount of cold beverages you consume and this is where the danger comes in. This includes sports drinks, fruit juices and diet drinks.
Keep in mind that whole fruit does not count and should not be avoided. Due to the fibre that counters the negative effects of the fructose, whole fruit is very healthy.
5. Eat More Protein
Protein is an important macronutrient when you want to burn belly fat. It helps to reduce cravings and boots your metabolism. In addition, when eating protein, it will also help you not to gain all the shed weight if you do not follow through on a weight loss plan. Make sure that you include proteins like fish, eggs, lean meat, and poultry into your diet.
